Full Basement Waterproofing and Moisture Mitigation System in Britt, Ontario
Challenge
In Britt, the basement was affected by ongoing and recurring water intrusion through the foundation system, which led to consistently high humidity levels, visible dampness on walls and floors, and a general deterioration of indoor environmental conditions. The persistent presence of moisture created an unstable basement climate where condensation frequently formed, contributing over time to material weakening, unpleasant odors, and increased risk of mold growth. In addition, the lack of proper water management around the foundation allowed hydrostatic pressure to build up, further intensifying seepage through concrete surfaces and compromising overall air quality and structural integrity within the space.
Solution
To address both active water entry and long-term moisture control, a full waterproofing system was installed:
- WaterGuard interior drainage system installed along the foundation footing to intercept groundwater at its entry point
- SuperSump sump pump system implemented to ensure efficient and continuous water evacuation away from the structure
- IceGuard discharge protection added to prevent system failure or backups during freezing temperatures
- CleanSpace wall encapsulation installed to isolate foundation walls and block vapor transmission
Following installation, the basement conditions were fully stabilized. Water infiltration was eliminated, humidity levels were significantly reduced, and the space transitioned into a dry, controlled environment. The system now provides long-term protection against moisture-related damage while improving overall indoor air quality and structural durability.
