Tackling Basement Water and Humidity with Professional Waterproofing Solutions in Pointe-Au-Baril-Station, On
Challenge
Basement water infiltration and excess humidity can create ongoing challenges for homeowners, including damp surfaces, musty odours, elevated indoor humidity, and concerns about the long-term condition of the basement. Without an effective water management system, groundwater entering around the foundation can accumulate and contribute to persistent moisture problems.
For this project in Pointe-Au-Baril-Station, Ontario, the objective was to install an integrated basement waterproofing system that would help manage water entering around the foundation, improve moisture control, and support a drier, more comfortable basement environment.
Solution
To address basement water management and humidity control, our team installed four complementary systems designed to work together.
1. WaterGuard® Interior French Drain System
The WaterGuard® interior drainage system was installed to collect water entering along the basement perimeter and direct it toward the sump pump system. Unlike a conventional exterior drainage approach, this interior French drain is installed beneath the basement floor along the perimeter, helping manage water before it spreads across the basement floor. This system forms a key part of the home's basement waterproofing solution.
2. TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System
To remove collected water, we installed the TripleSafe™ sump pump system. This system features three pumps designed to provide multiple levels of protection against basement flooding, including additional pumping capacity and battery-powered backup protection when properly equipped and maintained. By moving collected groundwater away from the basement, the system helps reduce the risk of water accumulation and provides additional peace of mind during challenging conditions.
3. CleanSpace® Wall System
The CleanSpace® wall system was installed to help manage moisture along the basement walls. Its durable wall liner helps direct water behind the membrane toward the drainage system instead of allowing it to spread into the basement living space. This solution complements the interior French drain and sump pump, contributing to a more controlled and moisture-resistant basement environment.
4. SaniDry™ Sedona Dehumidifier
To complete the installation, our team added the SaniDry™ Sedona dehumidifier, designed to remove excess moisture from the basement air. Controlling indoor humidity helps reduce dampness and musty odours while supporting better indoor air quality. Combined with the drainage and wall systems, the dehumidifier addresses airborne moisture rather than water entering through the foundation alone.
