Installing our TripleSafe system, as well as discharge line including IceGuard system in Mississauga, Ontario
Challenge
A homeowner in Mississauga, Ontario reached out to us after experiencing multiple water infiltrations in his basement. The basement was unfinished and the client had plans to convert it into a livable space. Visible signs of efflorescence had formed on the concrete walls, and occasional water seepage was present in certain area of the basement.
During the inspection, our specialist identified the following critical risk factors:
No Sump Pump System Installed: Without a dependable sump pump system, basements are at high risk of flooding during storms or snowmelt. This can lead to structural damage such as foundation cracks or bowed walls. Water damage also lowers the property's resale value and will most probably discourage future buyers.
Discharge Line Too Close to the Foundation: The previous setup allowed discharged water to drain right next to the home's foundation, increasing the chances of it seeping back into the basement.
High Humidity and Poor Air Quality: The lack of moisture control was creating a damp environment, increasing the risk of mold growth and contributing to poor indoor air quality inside the basement, and thus inside the house.
Solution
Our Solution consisted of installed TripleSafe Sump Pump System and IceGuard Discharge Line.
To address the problems effectively and ensure long-term basement protection, our team installed the TripleSafe® Sump Pump System, connected to an upgraded discharge line placed far from the foundation.
- TripleSafe Sump Pump System: Three Levels of Protection
1. Primary Pump: A powerful 1/3 HP Zoeller pump handles normal water levels.
2. Secondary Pump: A 1/2 HP Zoeller pump activates automatically if the primary pump fails or if water volume is excessive.
3. UltraSump Battery Backup Pump: Kicks in during power outages and is capable of pumping over 11,500 gallons on a fully charged battery.
This setup offers reliable moisture control, helping to prevent mold growth and significantly improve indoor air quality. It also regulates hydrostatic pressure beneath the basement floor and walls, reducing the likelihood of cracks or foundation settlement.
- Discharge Line with IceGuard System:
We extended the discharge line approximately 15 feet away from the home’s foundation, ending with a LawnScape outlet to disperse water safely and avoid soil erosion.
And to ensure maximum safety, we included the IceGuard anti-freeze system, which allows water to escape in case the discharge line becomes frozen or clogged.
